When the school bell rings at the end of every day, thousands of metro Denver kids pour out of classrooms and into their after school routines. For some, this means heading home where they are met by a parent who helps them with homework before driving them to basketball practice and piano lessons. For other kids in our community, after school options are far less certain, stable and safe.
At Boys & Girls Clubs, we know the hours between 3:00-6:00 p.m. are the peak hours for juvenile crime and experimentation with drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and other risky behaviors. We also know that in our community, children are facing obstacles more challenging than ever before.
Boys & Girls Clubs are there to close the “opportunity gap” and help kids by providing the enriching experiences, meaningful relationships, and consistency and reliability that they might otherwise go without. By providing a safe, accessible place where kids can find the support they need – whether it’s a warm meal, words of encouragement from a caring adult, or just a little extra help with those algebra equations – the Clubs help young people overcome the obstacles in their life and get inspired to build a better future for themselves.
Our membership is open to all youth ages 6-18 and costs our Club members just $2 per year. With that membership, kids have access to a wealth of programming that has the power to positively shape and change their lives.
By the time our Club members reach high school graduation, it is our goal that they not only are persons of good character, but are also equipped with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in college or a career and to take responsibility for their own well-being. No other organization supports the whole child more than Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver.
